PANDORA History

Goldsmith Per Enevoldsen, and his wife, Winnie, opened a jewelry shop in Copenhagen, Denmark, in 1982. They started to travel to Thailand to find unique gems and jewelry. With a dream of creating their own unique jewelry brand, they hired Danish designer Lone Frandsen to help launch the PANDORA line. In 1996, Lisbeth Eno Larsen, Goldsmith and Designer, joined the company. Together with Lone, she played a key role in defining PANDORA’s style. With an idea to reinvent the charm bracelet, the popular Pandora Charm Bracelet was launched in the Danish market in 1999. Born of Danish design, PANDORA today is a global brand, distributed and sold in more than 20 countries. PANDORA employs more than 1,200, who serve at the lead operations in Copenhagen, North American operations, and its PANDORA production facility.

The strength of the PANDORA bracelet is the patented, unique threading system, which others have tried to duplicate without success. (U.S. Pat. No. 7,007,507) Each bracelet is divided into three sections by small threads. Every bead is equipped with interior threads, which allow for customized placement of beads and charms within any bracelet segment. PANDORA jewelry is handcrafted in 14K gold and sterling silver, and held to extremely high-quality, fine jewelry standards. Diamond and precious gemstones adorn many PANDORA charms, while other beads are made of hand-blown Murano glass. Pandora’s high-quality charms and beads range in price from $25 for silver to $1,100 for 14K gold with gems, making PANDORA an affordable luxury that can work within every budget.
